Peer Review #2

Thein’s website, “A blog by thuatng” (https://cecidi.com/blog/), allows us to learn more about him and his interests. Through his blogs, we can discover his taste in music, the history of SoundCloud rap, and an in-depth analysis of beloved dark fantasy manga.

His interests are diverse and unique, which shows in each post.

Home Page

The home page itself is very simplistic. We have the website’s title and the subheading of its content. Underneath it is a picture of Playboi Carti and Fubuki from One-Punch Man—accompanied by a background of a thunderstorm in a dark forest. Just looking at the home page, it establish his interest in darker genres, manga and rap.

Although the website has a lot of character, design-wise, it can be confusing for some viewers. The title is a good indicator of what the website is about, but those who know very little about rap or manga can need clarification about who these two are. As a suggestion, developing the home page a bit more will allow readers to quickly understand who you are and your interests. Engaging elements will help readers want to stay and explore your website further.

Category Page and Blogs

A strong component of Thein’s website is his blogs and categories. He presents his blog posts in a clean way, and each post has an engaging title to entice viewers to read on. The accompanying picture also provides a pop of colour contrasting the darker background.

Going through the layout of your blog, it has a lot of information. For example, in the blog “Soundcloud Rap: Rise and Fall” (https://cecidi.com/blog/blog-post/soundcloud-rap-rise-and/), we go through a timeline of SoundCloud history. For each year, it has a bolded sub-title and an explanation of what happened. A suggestion: if you want to follow this format, have the title on a separate line and not combined with your information. By separating it, your information will feel less compacted and compact. Allowing more spacing will greatly benefit your blogs (and it can look like you wrote a lot more).

Summary + Minor Suggestion

Overall, Thein’s website is developing nicely. With more time, his audience will gradually know him a lot better.

These are some suggestions I would add to your website. Building your home website, adding your post on the home page, or having an interesting logo will improve it a lot. Also, building up your “About Me” page will give more context to the person you are.

Anyways, good stuff, man, I look forward to how you develop your site.
