Process Post #4 - Setting up my website + Finding an identity

When making a website, you need a catchy name to entice people to come to your website. Sadly, when I first set up my website, I followed everyone by using the domain name as my name. If I would do this again I would have thought about my website name before paying for it, a lesson for next time. But then, I wasn’t sure what topic I would do for my website.

After finalizing my decisions on the boba review, I had a couple of ideas on my mind. My first idea was something a bit inappropriate. The name would be “Balls in my mouth – not those balls.” I really liked my first idea; it’s able to give a shock factor, with the phrase “balls in my mouth,” which could imply something more dirty, but the additional “noth those balls” would ease a person that they did not end up on some sketchy website. It was a very creative name, but I don’t think it was appropriate for a general audience in the long run. So, I went back to brainstorming.

I still wanted an interesting name, something catchy and memorable. I finally ended up with “Chewing Balls – a boba review.” The name chewing balls refers to the actions of eating tapioca balls. I think it was clever and a bit whimsical. The name itself is unexpected and gives the audience an idea of what the website will be about. To clarify that, I added “a boba review” to ensure the audience knows 100% what this website is about.

The name of a website is very important to drive people to your website. That is the first impression an audience will have before entering. By having a more non-serious name, they understand this is a fun and lighthearted blog and will be more interested in entering.

Hopefully it sticks and people can have a good laugh!
