Peer Review #1

Danielle’s website, Music with Me (https://daniellepebres.com/), allows her to share her interest in various music genres, and readers gain awareness to explore different music genres and something new to add to your playlist. Through her reviews, she writes in-depth analyses on a specific track. She points out standout parts that the average listener may have missed. I can feel her love and passion for each song she reviews.

Danielle has worked extremely hard to carefully curate a playlist for upcoming reviews.

Home Page

When I first entered her website, I was impressed by its design. The website has a clean, simplistic and straightforward look. Different blue tones and complementary white colour schemes provide a consistent visual throughout the website. She made a wise decision to have the first song on her “Check Out All The Songs I’ve Reviewed” to be Amber Mark’s What It Is because it stays consistent with the overall blue colour theme.

A personal suggestion for the home page would be to have an element that catches the reader’s attention. Although I think the two icons explain what your website is intended for, it’s not very engaging. You could implement a recent post to grab the reader’s attention and encourage them to continue exploring your page. But if you want to keep with the icons, you should make the review redirect to the rest of your blogs. I think it would be fun if you press the new music icon, and it redirects you to a random song from your review.

Additionally, although I like how you implemented your recent post, I think it takes up too much space on your website. Having only three posts or having a rotation through the different posts on one line would be cleaner.

Blogs

Going through her post, I read her blog on “Kara Main Theme.” what attracted me to it was how different it was compared to the rest of the song genres. Video game soundtracks are often overlooked and underappreciated, so it was a nice change. Throughout the blog, we get insight into her perspective and appreciation for this genre. Continuing, we get the context of this soundtrack and an exposition of this character’s story. She thoroughly explains how the music encapsulates the thoughts and feelings of this specific character. Hearing the track makes understanding this character’s struggle easier. One thing I love about her posts is the “songs this reminds me of.”  She provides a couple of songs with a similar feel to the reviewed track, which makes readers more interested in this track.

Summary

Overall, Danielle’s website can establish an audience looking to explore different genres of music. She provides various options and is able to show her genuine appreciation for the intricate crafts of each song. She is doing an amazing job; I am excited to see what else she has in store.
